Year of Vinyls Continued
Hello again,
Happy St. Patrick's Day. And yes it has been another week. I am not sure about how it was for all of you out there, but for me it was long and going no where fast.
Sadly this past week, I was so tired that I did not make any progress in this area. However in hopes of beginning my preliminary mock-up this upcoming week, I did purchase a number of bias tapes and hem tapes.

Lights came to Columbus as the headliner of her own show! Yay! For those who are unaware, I have been a fan of Lights for the past 4 years. Whenever she comes to Columbus, I go to see her perform. Until now this has only been at the Fashion Meets Music Festival. So it was interesting to see her in an indoor venue. Her openers were DCF, which I only saw a little of, and Chase Atlantic, who had random saxophone solos.

It was also interesting going to the Newport Music Hall venue for the 1st time. If you go to a show there ladies, either go without a purse or the smallest one you own. Fortunately I always wear tennis shoes and jeans. So I had pockets to cram my important stuff into. Purses that make it to the entry way do get searched. The venue was interesting. They describe themselves as a "Concert venue hosting major acts in a historic, multilevel standing-room-only ballroom." When my dad heard where I went, he said "That place is old. I remember hearing about it when I was still in school." Parts of it you can tell that it was old but being across the street from Ohio State University catering to the college crowd, it wasn't dated. Upon entering the ground floor entertainment space, you have a bar to one side and a pizza stand to the other.

Per usual I enjoyed Lights performance. It was the 1st time I saw her having a TV screen behind her for video clips of either unspecific CGI faces, her comic and even the Sailor Moon Transformation sequence. She even had fun with the fact that there was a pizza stall. Lights had someone bring a pizza box up with a keyboard inside, and played it. For someone who has "classified" her music as Synth-Pop, it was nice hearing her do a different take on some of her songs, by either slowing them down or using an acoustic guitar. One of the things that I found out at the concert that I think is amazing, is that Lights made sure that a portion of the ticket proceeds is being donated to an environmental charity.
To continue my year of vinyl, I purchased Skin & Earth, as well as a necklace. It would have been nice to get the album signed like I did last week, but I didn't recall any announcements indicating the availability of autographs after the show. So I left with the mass exodus, which going by myself I feel safest doing.

And on that note, my week's adventures have been concluded. We shall see what adventures will find me this upcoming week and how my project advances.
Until then...
