A Colorful Spring

Hello again

Here in central Ohio it isn't quite colorful outside yet, but I did turn my spring cleaning into a colorful event.  This past weekend was the first weekend in all of March when I did not have anything planned.  I decided to take advantage of it and do some "home" things that I haven't done in a long while.

The first thing, which took up most of Saturday was cleaning out my closet.  During my breaks at work I have been re-reading my "Lessons from Madame Chic" book.  I decided to re-read it now to help me out of my winter blues.  Its about connecting and translating the French "joy of life" mentality into everyday American life.  I admit that I cannot do the 10 piece capsule wardrobe, but I did go through my closet and eliminated a number of items that made me feel "ugly."  I even got rid of a couple of pieces that now are an improper fit (which makes me feel ugly), but I still liked.  For those,  I did take a few good-bye pictures, focusing on why I liked them.

With the first round of ugly out of my closet, I reorganized my closet via colors.

Front half is...

  • White/ Ivory
  • Peach
  • Pink
  • Reds (more wine and burgundy shades)
  • Purples
Back half is...
  • Aquas
  • Grays
  • Blues (quite a few of this)
  • Blacks
An order of Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance LED bulbs arrived on Saturday.  So I have been playing around with that some as well this past week.  And I am still playing around with them.  Its nice having more control over my lights, including intensity and mood.  I actually had the lights on reading mood when I was working on another skirt piece pattern blades.  It was really nice and bright but not blinding.

As for my creative projects...

I did not get very far in regards to sewing.  I managed to draw up the blades for 1 of my 2 remaining pattern pieces and that was it.

However, I was more creatively inclined in the Kitchen.  I made Ghirardelli Chocolate Brownies and Chocolate Pudding (this is what happens when you accidentally order a gallon of chocolate milk) as well as Popeye Quiche and Madeleine cookies.  It has been a while since I have done this amount of varied baking.

Well that is all for this week.  I hope that everyone enjoys their Easter Weekend.

Until next time...

Here are some photos that I took during my Sunday evening walk.
