March Madness Begins
No, I am not talking about basketball. I admit that my many interests do not include sports, though I do enjoy the Olympic gymnastic and ice skating routines. My reference is in regards to the fact that I have something going on almost every single weekend this month. I am glad for it. I need things to look forward to while interacting with the outside world.
Now on to the adventures of this past week...
Project Adventures
The achievement for the week is that I re-did my fan out skirt pattern from the previous week. Most importantly, I like it. From that learning experience I can now move forward with the remaining 3 skirt pattern pieces. After that I am finally ready for the first mock-up. Yay!!!
I also worked on mint chocolate fudge cake pops. I dipped these on Sunday, and because of the fudge it took about 4 hours to do 80 cake pops. This is why on the whole, I only do cake pops once a month. They really are not hard to make, but they are time consuming. But they are delicious, or at least the once that I make.
Exploration Adventure
On Saturday March 3rd, I went to the Steadfast Festival hosted in the events area of Strongwater Food and Spirits in Columbus, OH. A favorite local Columbus band of mine, Playing to Vapors, was playing there, which was my big incentive to go. It actually began at 2:30 pm, however, I did not arrive until 7:45 pm. As mentioned before, I am doing my own take on "March Madness" and did not want to run myself ragged before Playing to Vapors went on at 8:20. I spent quite a bit of time talking to people, mostly new people and one new familiar person. I stayed a couple of songs into Day Wave, who I was enjoying. However just like Lilac Lungs at the 2017 Fashion Meets Music Festival, I was beginning to tire out which is not a good thing when you have a 30-40 minute drive home. So I left.
I did purchase the Playing to Vapors vinyl and had all of the band members sign. I now know that I should take a Sharpee or 2 with me to things like this. It took several tries to find a marker that would write. Playing to Vapors also played 2 new songs that they are working on. Admittedly, I am a little curious when they may be releasing their next album.
Well that does it for this week, until next time...
