Drafting Modifications Week 1
Hello again,
A continuation from last week's flared skirt adjustment: I took a piece of my "Drafting Paper," which in actuality is only an extremely large drawing pad of paper that was cheap, and made it approximately half the width of my gingham. Off the top of my head I believe that my gingham is in the smallest width of all my fabrics at 44 inches. Then there is the fact that I did purchase that fabric specifically to be my mock-up fabric. The "half" is because typically it is a lot quicker & easier to cut out all the pieces needed if the fabric is folded in half. Because the focus of this adjustment is on flaring out the bottom of the skirt for the desire of it I placed the bottom of the 4 skirt pieces on my "Drafting" paper. Afterwards I then completed a pivot adjustment of 1/2 inches at a time until I couldn't equally spread each of the pieces out any more. This wound up being 1.5 inches. I then attached scrap paper to maintain the adjustment. Then I took a step back and decided to hold off on making a new mock up of this for the moment.

I still wanted to keep with my goal of working on the Yoke and Bodice, so I switched gears to that. Using my Light Board, I copied the Bodice and Yoke pieces for Sizes 16 and 18. The size 18 is to accommodate my waist, which I discovered from last week's experiment. The Size 16 is for my Bust which I learned from the "Forever Project." I then began marking the Front Bodice piece for the Full Bust Alteration (FBA) that will be needed.

That's right where I ended up for the week. Currently, I am debating about going ahead and mocking up Skirt #2 and Yoke #1 before I begin getting carried away by my FBA for the Bodice. There is also the fact that I broke my French Curve which would come in handy for grading from the Bodice to the Waist/ Yoke. I ordered a Metal one because the Plastic Dritz ones that I have picked up at JoAnns like to break. Hopefully it will be arriving soon.
My goal for next time is to be completely done with drafting all of the pieces for this Project, with the mock-up of the skirt & Yoke completed as well. Of course I would be over the moon if I also manage to finish the mock-up for the top, but I think I could be content without that step for next week.
Until next time...
The long and short of is that I did not get as far as I had wanted to this week. I worked on my pattern pieces this week, and did not make it to an actual Mock-up yet.
