2 Week Hodge Podge

Hello again,

I admit that I haven't been up to much these past 2 weeks.  I've spent more of it sitting on pins & needles for my Online Fabric Store Order to arrive.

For those who don't know, I used up the remainder of my muslin on my Forever Project: Rose Petal.  When re-reading the Colette Handbook, it was recommended that...

  1. Choose a mock-up fabric that is similar in weight & drape to your final fabric.
  2. Gingham was recommended because it makes it easier to notice issues prior to using your good fabric.
Through the Online Fabric Store, I ordered 10 yards of gingham, because honestly the muslin that I have purchased in the past doesn't have the weight or drape of the final fabrics that I use.  I figured I'd give this a try.

I cannot express how anxious I am for this fabric to arrive.  It means that I'll be closer to actually begin working on my Summer Solstice Project.  I've already read the directions book a couple of times to get a proper feel on how to construct it.  I also ordered some sample fabrics for potential linings for this upcoming project along with the gingham.  Hopefully I'll be able to narrow down the lining soon.

Before I begin my big Summer Solstice Project I do need to work on my Coworker's Pillow Project.  This project consists of making 4 pillow slipcovers, where I was already provided with the materials.  All that I needed is to cut & sew, which for some reason I have a hard time motivating myself to do.  In the past 2 weeks I have managed to cut 1 set of the larger cases out.  All I have to do is stitch it up.

Oddly enough, I have had more motivation to work on mending projects more so than the pillow cases.  One was simple.  A flower of mine fell off of its hair clip so I had to glue it back on.

The other mending project is something  that has been on my list for a while.  I have American Duchess Renoir boots, and 2 buttons on 1 shoe had come off.  Using some embroidery floss & a big needle, I re-attached the 2 buttons to the shoe.  This then led to me pampering these shoes to their own spa.  AKA my bathroom where I cleaned them with saddle soap, polished & waxed them.

So that about does it for this 2 week catch up.

Until next time...
