Pinning & Brainstorming

Hello again,

There are actually 2 parts to this episode.  What I did & a brainstorming shopping trip.

Like everything else this year I am slowly progressing through this project.  In short, I am still working on the mock-up top.  I copied the markings from the one half to the blank half in my various sharpees.  I did cheat a little and only did the dash lines of the seam allowances instead of both those & the cutting lines for sizes 14-18.  I then pinned the sides seams and the back seams together.  I then decided to pin the darts on the back of the top.  I wanted to do this because compared to adjusting the front for a bigger bust, I see minimal manipulations necessary.  Due to my extra waist however, I had to unpin my back seam in order to pin my darts.  Next time, I'll pin the marked darts prior to draping the manikin.  A little side note I really miss my anti-burst exercise ball.  It was a lot easier to sit, pin & move to where I need to when working with Dolly, my manikin.

This was as far as I had gotten this past week. As you can see the back portion does need to be adjusted.
  1. Waist
  2. According to Colette, loose diagonal wrinkles means that there is too much fabric for that curve.
So I need to play around & figure out how exactly I adjust this. Then I may get around to the front portion of the top & adjust it.

Now onto the brainstorming trip...

With the way that this year has been progressing, I have been re-evaluating the projects that I initially had lined up as things have progressed slower than I expected and some of the initial project concepts that I had planned went in a different directions.  So this past weekend while out and about, I headed over to a JoAnn's store, which where I live is the only walk-in place where you can purchase fabric for clothing.  I wanted to get ideas on what I may need for my new next 2 projects that I already have some fabric for, but requires lining & possible detailing.  Thanks to JoAnn's new alliance with cosplayer Yaya Han, there were pictures and patterns for such things as the 10th Doctors Coat, Female Dalek and Female Tardis.  I definitely have some ideas floating around, though I'll probably go back again about the lining.  I'm really on the fence on which one to choose.

Well that's it for this week, I'll give you a break from saying "hopefully I'll be done next week..."  Because as much as I would like to say that I doubt that it will happen.  I'll just be hoping that I have at least the back of the top properly adjusted.

So until next week...
