Cutting, sewing, carving

Fair warning with the Collete Cinnamon Slip, because of the rush to get it done in time for the wedding this past Saturday, I did not take as many pics as I usually do & then forgot to take a pic of what I had achieved before uploading the pics from the chip of my relic of a camera whose default year is 2003.


Even though the square was smaller than 4"'x4", I decided to risk it & run with it.  I happened to have some left-over Charmease from my 1st snow dress that actually managed to be enough for this project.  I managed to get the grain lines & the remnants to match up nicely.

 I then cut them out, perhaps a little sloppily but not horribly off

I then followed the majority of the instructions given, though honestly I don't entirely understand why the instructions repeatedly said to run a baste stitch ( a long straight stitch that can be removed rather easily later) then stitch a narrow zigzag on top.  Needless to say I hardly did the zig-zag stitch.

 As you can see there is some rouching in the bodice, where you ran 2 long stitches parallel to each other to create a more uniform effect.

Outside of completing the hem, I managed to get it done in time for the wedding.  I did cheat & used ribbon for the straps instead of sewing & turning out the straps that were included in the pattern set. As for the "hem" I used my new & beloved Pinking Shears, which minimizes the amount of fraying.  And miraculously it fit despite the small square.  The straps were a lil loose but with the straps being anchored in the back I'm going to wait until this weekend & see if I can rope someone into pinning them the correct length, then I'll figure out the hem.

Well since I am stuck until the weekend with this slip I went back & worked some more on the rolling rubber stamp by finishing drawing the border lines.

 Then taking the my Lino-Cutter set, I carved out  2 of the channels.

The 2nd channel went a little better because I scored the channel to carve out.  Though an afterthought that I had today was that I should have carved out the medium sized channel because that is where the design will be & needs to be just a little bit lower than the wide guiding channel.  While the narrow channel needs to be the deepest.  Oh well live & learn.

Until next week when the Colette Cinnamon Slip will be complete & hopefully the rolling stamp will be close if not completely done.  It would be nice to have some things done.
