Week 11 Lining Sandwich & a Couple of Folds
Happy Friday everyone! Its been another week & more progress on this slow adventure of Nellie's Birthday Frills.
Continuing on from last week...
I did not sew the pinned up purple & lace together right away. Instead I added the lining to this pinned up cocktail, sandwiching the lace collar between the purple & the lining.
The inspiration to do this comes from an afterthought when working on my 1st Snow Dress. I like having linings to work off of. It gives me the simple base to build on. It keeps raw edges from getting in the way of putting on the garment and fastening it up. And as in this case, it makes the top look clean by hiding the the raw edges without too much fuss or extra stitches.
So after sewing my fabric sandwich together at 1cm,
I figured out the lace fold in the collar that lines up with one of the front folds, & pinned it up. I then sewed the lace fold down. This was then continued by sewing down the 2 main folds on the front of the dress from the tippety top of the purple top to a little bit past the top of the skirt.
And that concludes what I have achieved this week. I now have only 4 more skirt folds & 2 more top to skirt folds to go to complete the fold/ darts on the outer purple portion of the dress.
Until next week...
