Renaissance Fair 2017
Hello again,
As you can see I made it to the Renaissance Fair this past weekend. Miraculously, I managed to get my new dress to be "Wearable" thanks to Friday off from work plus an all nighter. Surprisingly, I have yet to burn myself out on this project which is a good thing, because I would like to work on it some more.
Because of the rush to get this dress "wearable" for the Renaissance Fair, it is not where I would like it to be. Now that the big rush to get it over with is gone, I will be deconstructing it to remedy it to the quality and design that I desire. In short, I will be taking my time in getting to know this dress better. I still haven't come up with a Design Title for this dress outside of "Maid Marion," which is very unlike me.
I'm not entirely sure why in the past I have always struggled the most with my Renaissance Dress designs, but I have and this year is no exception. It has gone through 2 sketched designs, and what I was able to pull off was as bare-bones simple as I could allow myself to go. I actually do not mind the evolution of my projects because often times the change is better than the original. I actually plan on going more of the 2nd sketch route, which I forgot to upload here.
As for the Renaissance Festival...
I completely enjoyed it as I usually do. This time my friend Samantha, brought along her niece, so we got to do different things from previous times. I still had to hit up my 2 favorite shops of ...
- Uncommon Adornments
- Knotty Jewels/ Jewelry (They only work Renaissance Fair - I adore their rings)
And thanks to the wind and my unruly hair for the day, I went to a Hair Braiding stall and got it done up real fancy and pretty. I actually didn't want to take it down that night but I needed to take a shower.
Everyone was a little surprised about how warm it was. It was 80 degrees Fahrenheit with lots of sunshine and some wind. I had planned this entire time to wear my Aqua Mist Renaissance cloak from a couple of years back because it came in the same pattern packet as my dress and its October in Ohio, which is usually has cooler temperatures. The long and short of it was that I did not take either of my 2 parasols that I had purchased from Gilded Lily because of my determination to wear the cloak. The day was so brilliantly bright that the few pics that I did take, I was unable to see because of the glare, but I broke down and bought another parasol from Gilded Lily this time an all White one. So from here on out, I will take a parasol with me regardless if I take my cloak along or not. Afterwards, we hit up a Steak-and-Shake for dinner and went home.
It was a really good day. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Now for the rest of this year... I am complete with major sewing projects. It is time to get my supplies reorganized and to clean up my projects like the Maid Marion Revision and mending. I will also begin brainstorming my game plan for next year.
Well anyways that is it for this week. Below are some of my pics from this past week including Josefina lending Isabelle her thimble for hand stitching the Eyelet bar to the back of the dress.
Until next time...
