Fashion Meets Music Festival 2017

Hello again,

As of last Thursday I am finally done with the work related project that I was stressed out about from the previous episode.  Yay!  Now its time to clean-up my disaster zone from putting everything on the back burner... And turn my space into a Fantasy Renaissance Fair disaster zone.  Eventually things will be put back together... Eventually.

As stress relief from the past couple of weeks, I went to the Fashion Meets Music Festival (FMMF) last Saturday.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Lights was there, which was the biggest reason for me to go.  I heard and enjoyed Rozes, Ex-Nihilo and a little bit of Lilac Lungs (I wanted to stay and listen to more but I had a 40 min drive home and I was tired).  I did the Amaze Escape Room Scavenger hunt that was done by the Columbus Escape Room, lots of fun.  The only Fashion show that I properly watched was Runway Winner Michael Drummand's.  It was alright, just not my style especially the knee crotch pants.

Being at the Obetz Fortress there were Big Screens that featured what 1 of the 3 Main stages (2 music 1 fashion - all next to each other so that the shows had to be staggered between them).  I could be at the 4th stage in the entry-way courtyard with Ex-Nihilo and glance up at the screen to see what was going on.  The only fashion show that I glanced up at & kinda liked was Kimono Dragons, which was actually menswear.

One of the things that I enjoy about Central Ohio, is its the support of local Ohio artisans.  Tuttle, Polaris, Easton and even the Worthington malls all have 1 shop that sells merchandise made from Ohio artists.  This is what was showcased in the Marketplace.  The Marketplace was sandwiched between the field with the 3 Main Stages and the 4th Courtyard Stage.  This is where I really missed the Street Fair feel that I had when I went to FMMF 2015.  With Fashion in the name of the event, most stalls were of clothing.  There was also a glitter stand, where your face and or hair could be decked out in chunky glitter designs.  It was slightly tempting - mainly with the pondering of "would the glitter reflect the sun off and not bake me so much?"  However, I was going to be there ALL DAY... I knew that it would be best if I didn't.  Sadly I must admit that only the Doki Doki chocolate dipped pretzels and the Amaze Stand spoke to me.  Though to be fair the Amaze stand took me through out the entire grounds, including a beach-sand area in the Market Place.
The strangers that I talked with were friendly.  I loved seeing others jamming to the music.  Performers bouncing and jumping about the stage.  Rozes kicking off her shoes to have more fun with us & her drummer jumping off a stool in time for a drum solo.  Lights even jumped down from the stage to shake hands with the general audience,  I couldn't believe that she was able to leap back up to the stage in 1 bound.  But then again she's probably had quite a bit of practice.  I also enjoyed watching other audience members get into the music, like Katie in the Blue Dress at Rozes concert, and the Mom jamming past Ex-Nihilo while pushing her stroller along.  It was also interesting to see what the fashionistas were wearing to this sports field.  Again, I was to be there all day so I had to be a bit more practical with my apparel compared to others who could simply go home for a while then come back.  I still enjoyed what I wore and was complimented on my hat.

If you can' tell I really enjoyed going to FMMF and I believe that I will make it an annual thing, even though the doctors believe that I caught an Upper Respiratory Virus while there.  C'est la vie.  Now with being sick and planning on staying in this weekend, I am hoping that I will begin making progress with my Autumnal Renaissance dress.  The 1st step is to mock-up the top.  It will be the trickiest considering the "Princess Cut" and the fact that a Butterick size 18/20 equals a Colette size 14, and I am larger than that.  But if I can turn the size to a Colette size 16 I should be able to "Rock-n-Roll."  Because I know how to modify that.

Until next time...Rozes

Ex-Nihilo (A local Central Ohio Band)

 And LIGHTS...

Lastly, Lilac Lungs
