Better Late Than Never
Hello again,
I apologize for being a little late with posting this week, if I had posted before it would have been incoherent gibberish from being too tired.
As for this past week...

On Sunday I went to Schiller Park, and enjoyed walking around outside, especially after this past month. While walking about, I started looking forward to wearing new summer dresses from my fabric that arrived this week to Shakespeare in the Park. But there are a couple of projects that are before those. Right now I'm just hoping that my time goals pan out to where I want them. Right now its taking a while to get back into the swing of things. Also after reading the "A Fantastic Fit" chapter, I'm a lil nervous because it says that "You should spend as much time on fitting the pieces as sewing it." Oh well, I have to remember that what happens happens.

Once I returned home from my stroll, I hunkered down & turned the day into a Sewing Sunday, working on the skirt. I was on a roll and got quite far, perhaps too far.
It took a moment or 2 for things to click with installing the zipper & attaching the waist facing. But once I understood what I was doing and how I was to do it, it went easily. I am quite proud on how that came out.
Then came my Achilles heal of the scalloped hem. The template seam allowance trace that I had done was in chalk and had faded. Not only that, but my initial template that I had made was off and did not entirely match up with where the peaks and valleys should be. This is also where my too far moment happened. After sewing the bottom edges together, I began clipping the seam allowances so that the scallops would lay flat. If you don't see where this is going the short of it is that in a couple of spots I clipped more than the seam allowance.
So in this upcoming week I am going to be rectifying my hem flub ups and work on the items that need to be hand-stitched for completion. So I'm almost there.
Until next week...
